Nipissing University

25 x 85 modular booth exhibiting annually

Objective

Develop a design concept that addressed the University's concern for traffic flow of 120,000 attendees over 3 days, prompt delivery of attendees to their areas of interest, audio visual presentations and data collection from several thousand attendees, and the ability to answer questions and distribute 15,000 – 20,000 brochures within a 3 day period. As a northern University, the ability to draw crowds and generate interest in the lifestyle and feel of the University was required thereby offering students an opportunity to consider a University they might not originally have considered. This is their big chance to generate new interest.

Solution

Stevens E3 developed a design that took advantage of overhead allowances to design a booth that maximized the available 12 ft of height allowance with a central backlit image and overhead structure. The central tower was built from light-weight tensioned fabric graphics, and was illuminated for dramatic effect. 8 LED monitors (4 on each side of the central image) depicted lifestyle imagery from the campus and created a large video attraction for students walking by. The exhibit was broken into the various campus faculties and staff wore coloured shirts that matched the colours of the faculties thereby enabling ease of traffic flow and triage on the show floor. Video monitors located at each faculty featured information on the various programs offered and 2 touch screen computers provided the ability for attendees to go on a virtual campus tour. 4 iPad towers, each with 2 iPads acted as areas for data collection, as well as the dispensing of literature.
