Ontario Ministry of the Environment

50 x 60 modular pavilion exhibiting biannually

Objective

Develop a design and ultimately a build that featured Ontario companies that were “green” in nature. Different booth sizes would need to be developed for different stakeholders from both the private and public sector. Materials used within the pavilion would need to be environmentally conscientious. Meeting room space and booking procedures accommodated for multiple users. A staff “quiet room” needed to be included. Traffic flow would need to be addressed ensuring a smooth flow of people through the pavilion, and though not taking away from the 20 plus individual exhibitors displaying products in the booth, it must appear cohesive, unified and in promotion of Ontario. Video would also need to be a part of the pavilion. As an International event, it was critical that Ontario be presented is a leader in the sustainability industry.

Solution

Stevens E3 developed a design that took advantage of overhead allowances available and designed a booth with strong entrance signage and central messaging that drew attendees to a huge curved reception desk where people could be directed to their specific area of interest. In this unique pavilion design, exhibitor spaces were designed around the perimeter of the pavilion to maximize exposure for each exhibitor, while still given them the flexibility of choosing the size of their presence. Uniformity and standardized art guidelines helped to ensure a cohesive feeling throughout the pavilion. Looping video was set-up in two key areas of the pavilion, and an internet podium was set-up to allow exhibitors and attendees to access web.
